"When you look in the mirror and don't like what you see, remember that..."

Written by Dear Black Woman Kalisha Trishell

When you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, remember that God hasn’t created anything that lacks beauty.
— Kalisha Trishell

Cry

Cry for the woman who has no home

Pray for her strength so she will no longer

feel alone.

Cry for the woman who lacks love for herself.

Because without it, she cannot give it to anyone

else.

Cry for the woman who is abused by her man,

Pray

that one day she will never feel the force of his

hand.

Cry for her children who witness her pain.

Pray that God shows them their living is not in vain.

Cry for the woman who cannot feed her soul,

Pray for the day that she can walk a street of

gold.

Cry for the woman who does not have financial freedom

Pray for her intellect, so that she no longer sees herself

as defeated.

Cry for the woman who lives life with no purpose.

Pray for the day that she is clear about who she serves.

Cry for the woman who has never received an applaud

Pray for the day that she is cleared for take off.

Cry for the woman who cannot see her own beauty,

Pray for the day her God calls her to her to duty.

Cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, oh my God,

why, why, why?

Please tell this woman why she cries.

He says, no worries my precious pearl, for every tear you

feel come out of your eye.

You learn to release the stress that can make you

die.

When you look in the mirror and don't like what you see

Remember that God hasn’t created anything that lacks

beauty.

It is a choice to live life to its fullest potential!

No matter what type of accolades you have

nor your fancy high tech credentials.

Celebrate the woman who is reading this poem, because

she is now one step closer to reaching her goal.
