Affirmation Letter of the Week: "Things were dark a little bit ago...But today..."
Written by Dear Black Woman LaKeidra, Detroit
Things were dark a little bit ago. I know you felt like you were in a tailspin. On the outside, you were achieving, you were smiling and you were ok… but on the inside you were drowning. In your thoughts. In your fears. And in your worries. So scared of being wrong.
But today, oh today...I see you shining! After the dark night there always comes a rising sun, a brighter day, and the chance for you to flourish. I see you taking chances. I see you making moves. And I also see you trying to let the worries fall by the wayside.
Every day won’t be marvelous. Of course, more tough, more confusing and heavy days are ahead. But if we can look forward to days like this, we’ll get through.
Remember how God presented this journey to you. It wasn’t always super clear but here you are. In the 4th quarter, ready to take home that trophy. On some “games”, your performance may have been sub-par, but you’ve always been the star player. It’s about the collective. The big picture. And you always will be the MVP!
So when the days get tough, you know what to do! Pray of course...but you know what else right?
Throw on BODAK YELLOW. Get your lip gloss poppin and continue to make moves. Your *magic* shine like the brightest star even on the darkest days. You got this <3
