"My strength is a privilege I am honored to steward. My strength is a fact."

Written by A Dear Black Woman

I recognize and honor the strengths in those around me. Seeing them operating in their gifts, talents, abilities does not threaten me. I learn from them, collaborate with them, but I don’t try to be them.

I want to be someone who enters a space and believes she belongs, instead of feeling inferior.
I entered this space, and therefore I belong.

I want to be someone who freely speaks her mind.
I add value through the words I speak, and I effectively articulate my message. Though people may disagree, what they think of me does not define who I am.

I want to be someone who humbly recognizes her limitations.
I have the humility to ask for help, the wisdom to discern the right sources of help, and the strength to accept help when offered.

I want to be someone who can celebrate others without fear of being left behind.
I recognize and honor the strengths in those around me. Seeing them operating in their gifts, talents, abilities does not threaten me. I learn from them, collaborate with them, but I don't try to be them.

I want to be someone who hones her crafts, who embraces and displays her strength. Who doesn't apologize for what she can do, nor does she try to hide it. Who doesn't act like she can't do what she knows she can. Who doesn't fear doing it wrong.

My strength is a privilege I am honored to steward.

My strength is a fact.
